Jeffery W. Frymire


Dr. Frymire is a graduate of Anderson University (BA in Religious Studies), Anderson School of Theology (M.A. Religion and a Master of Divinity) and Fuller Theological Seminary (PhD in Practical Theology with an emphasis in Homiletics). After pastoring for some 35 years in North Carolina, Florida, Indiana and California, Dr. Frymire earned his PhD, graduating in 2010. He spent two years teaching at Princeton Theological Seminary in a Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Following that, Dr. Frymire was appointed Associate Professor of Homiletics at Asbury Theological Seminary Florida Campus. Over the past two years he has taught preaching, worship, and vocation of ministry. In July of 2013 he was appointed the Dean of the Chapel for the Orlando Campus and he continues to serve in that role.

Dr. Frymire has served the Church of God in numerous capacities at the district, state, and national level. He spent seven years as a member of the Ministries Council for the Church of God, including five years as Secretary and member of the Executive Committee. He chaired the Racial Reconciliation Committee of the Council and has been involved in issues concerning reconciliation. Currently, Dr. Frymire serves as an At-large member for the National Leadership Board of the National Association of the Church of God (NACOG). He has been a featured speaker at both national conventions of the Church of God and is regularly featured in State Pastoral Retreats and Camp Meetings for the Church of God in North America.

Married to Rev. Joan Frymire, they have three children all in pastoral ministry in the Church of God. Douglas Walter is an Associate Pastor at the First Church of God in Tallmadge, OH; Jonathan Frymire is Senior Pastor at the Orchard View Church of God in Grand Rapids, MI; and Joel Frymire is Associate Pastor at the Fireside Church of God in Livonia, MI. He has three grandsons, Malachi, Elliot, and Samuel.

Dr. Frymire is involved in the preaching ministry at Solid Rock, preaching once a month or as Pastor Blenman needs. He is also involved on Wednesday evenings in the teaching ministry. In addition, Dr. and Rev. Frymire give oversight to the Young Adult Ministry by hosting and organizing a monthly meeting entitled, “Hollywood and Theology” where students watch first run Hollywood movies and discuss the theology and values presented in the films. He truly enjoys and celebrates the staff and congregation at Solid Rock. They are the best!
